Action on climate change needed now

We are in the middle of the most drought-stricken area in the U.S.

Our rivers are dry, forests are burning, recreational opportunities are diminished and our rural and agricultural way of life is at risk. Can we agree that our very way of life is wasteful?

Transition to no-till farming, utilization of computerization and an updated mindset based on current events are all needed.

Are “ditch rights” or a “use it or lose it” system of allocating water, conceived when water was plentiful and the environment was healthy, acceptable today?

We need to put in place a “carbon fee and dividend” that puts responsibility on those who produce carbon while reimbursing consumers for associated cost increases.

We need to embrace the fact that addressing climate change provides a great tool for creating more jobs and revenue than the status quo. The majority needs to ensure that municipal, state and federal government will take appropriate action to save our way of life.
